While Philadelphia’s Level 1 trauma centers saw a 20 percent drop in patients during the first month and a half of the COVID-19 outbreak, there was a 5 percent increase in penetrating trauma across the city at that time, including a 20 percent spike in gunshots and stabbings that were handled at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.![]()
